Hi,

I am a new poster so please go easy on me. I am a Google Chrome portable user and love the software (and Safari but they are very similar). When at home it isn't a problem I can use the portable software no problems. When using my work laptop I get an error message which tells me that due to administrator settings I can't use the google chrome that I have on my pen drive.

I would much rather use google chrome than ie 7 (it's poo) but don't know a way round it. Does anyone know a portable up to date version of google chrome I can use that will get round the above?

Any help would be much appreciated.

what's the version of your portable Chrome?
Do you use extensions?

As it's your work laptop I think you'll find that your company have configured it so that it won'r allow external applications to run on it ...

I'm assuming you have an IT department of some kind or someone who is responsible for looking after your computer hardware ...

You will need to speak to them and ask them to allow Chrome to run on your laptop ...

As a former IT manager, in my experience, I would suggest your company has probably got a policy document somewhere that relates specifically to the provision of IT services and what is and isn't allowed ...

to be fair I think it is our IT department that have set it up so that it can't run. for now I will just have to use safari (as that appears to work) and use chrome on the home laptop. thanks for the advice though.

Have a word with your nice friendly IT Admin person ?
