    Default Google homepage

    Hi,

Is there any way to lock the page links on the Chrome homepage? I really like Opera's Speed Dial, and the one major thing keeping me from Chrome is that I can't figure out how to lock the page links so it mimics Speed Dial. I don't want the links to keep changing.

    Thanks.

I agree, having the speed dial change instead of user definable isn't ideal. The ability will come but at the moment customization of the start page is pretty non-existent.

What i have done is made my own page with a 16 site speed-dial, bookmark hyperlinks and some custom search boxes. Then i set my browsers to open that URL when opening new tabs.

So if you know a bit of HTML and have some webspace this is the best option because you can customize your start page exactly how you want it. If you don't, you can also use iGoogle or even Netvibes to create the same functionality until Chrome gets more features.

Here are a few online speed-dials for you to try:-

http://www.only2clicks.com - now set as my homepage

http://www.3x3links.com - my first choice - but only2clicks is better

http://safaridial.com - not tried yet, but looks good

    http://www.tizmos.com - not tried yet

The other thing I miss from Opera is Notes, I'm now using Helipad for all my notes http://pad.helicoid.net/, I've set it up as an application and have it open all the time.(I'm clipping a lot of notes - especially the Chrome tips!)

you would not even need any server for this / webspace. just run the html from your local machine
