I know I might be preaching to the converted here and some people may have an alternative solution to this but please bear with me ...
Up until a couple of days ago I hadn't used Google Reader or indeed any other RSS reader ...
I was prompted by the number of posts on this forum I was seeing about extensions to show the number of feeds in GR ...
I decided to have a look and chose TPReal's TPGoogleReader ...
TPGoogleReader - much more than other GR ext's!
I have to say I found it really good
The thing I liked most was the ability to have the feeds automatically opened as they arrived ..
So to my tip ...
Open a separate Chrome session alongside your current Chrome session
Open Google Reader (optional - doesn't have any affect on the extension working, just nice to be in GR if you want to do anything) in this session and click the TPGR extension check box ...
Any new feeds will be automatically opened in new tabs (and marked as read in GR)...
The number by the side of the check box is the number of feeds that have been opened ...
As you click on each tab (ie read) the number at the bottom decreases ...
The way I work this is, to be in my current session and when the count gets to a certain level I flip to the other session and have a look ...
If you can't be bothered to read anything, simply right click and close other tabs ...
Just thought I'd pass it on ;-)
PS : If you did open GR you will need to refresh so that the page shows the correct info (ie No unread feeds)
