Half way through using Chrome today I noticed a new feature when I search for something. A new menu bar appears on the left hand side of the screen with options like "Everything, Images, Video, News, More, The Web, Anytime, All results". Today is the first time I have seen this new feature. I find it annoying and redundant to the links in the top left of the screen already there which include "Web, Images, Video, Maps, News, etc". Can someone please tell me how to get rid of this new left hand menu?

Also, did I somehow accidentally enable it or did Chrome just decide to put it on there?

Google released a new search results page recently.

I personally like the new Google search layout, but this extension can be used to go back to the old style search:
