Default How to switch off automatic image download?

    Hi,

Does anyone know how to switch off automatic image download? Similar to Opera and Firefox to speed up browsing on slow connections, ideal would be a button to do this on/off for automatic image download without a big menu operation. Is there something in some hidden config files for this?

    Any help appreciated, Wolfgang

I don't know about a toggle option, but I know you can create a new Chrome shortcut and add --disable-images to the target path to have Chrome disable all images by default. That way you can use that shortcut when you wish to not view images.

Perhaps someone can create an extension that does something similar though...

Thanks devilslackey, can you give some instructions how to create this shortcut? maybe not a perfect solution, but a work around to start.

    Simply create a chrome shortcut
    Right click
    Properties
    Target should already be " PATH_TO_CHROME "
    Change it to : " PATH_TO_CHROME " --disable-images

Is there any way to toggle image display without having to restart Chrome?

I have two shortcuts, but if I already have Chrome open, the shortcut with --disable-images will still show images.

I know that method works, but that's why I asked:
