The IE Tab is pretty good too, there's actually an option on the ChromePlus Options tab in tools to enter the URLs for sites where you always want the IE Tab opened ...

For instance at the moment I can't post on the Google Chrome Help site with Chrome (Chrome problem), so just have it configured as opening with the IE Tab ...

I actually find this incredibly handy 'cos there's a couple of my homepages where I actually need this and because Chrome doesn't have a facility to load multiple homepages (only at startup) when you use the 'Home' button, what I did a long time ago was to have a folder on my bookmarks bar called 'Home' that I open at startup or when I need to reinstate my homepages ...

I know you said you weren't into mouse gestures but you can actually customise the gestures to open an IE Tab (saves going to the tools menu all the time)

I was never a great one for mouse gestures, but would find it hard to live without them now (especially as CP has 17 that you can configure with anything of 40 options)...

I'm using CP as my default now (especially since the problems with the latest dev update) ..
    Thanks.

First - I did get my missing bookmark icons into SunChrome when I synched with the Google Chrome data. Just copying the Bookmark folder was not enough. I later - when it had undergone updates - also copied the Thumbnails folder and a lot of my missing icons showed up - attached to the wrong bookmark link. I should have copied Bookmarks and Thumbnails at the same time. In any event synching fixed it all up.

Just for a bit of self torture I installed ChromePlus. (I had it installed last week and then dropped it.) Very nice. I like the IE tab handling; better than SunChrome in my opinion.

And yes, there is a lot more going on in the gestures. My less-than-steady hand makes my mouse gestures look like a lot of wiggly lines. I had best stick to pointing and clicking. But I will have a look at creating a gesture to open an IE mode.

It shall be interesting to see who wins out in all of this. I can't see unlimited development paths in the future for all of the various Chrome developers. Yet who knows - look what happened with Linux. Or maybe the Google team will pick up the developments going on elsewhere. One would hope they are watching.

What I like about the gestures is you don't need to be at all accurate with the movement in any direction and also you don't need to actually move them very far, quite literally millimetres ...

As for who comes out on top, well a week ago I was all in favour of SunChrome simply because they had more gestures and a choice of options ...

ChromePlus has simply blown that out of the water ...

The IE Tab is much better because you don't need to open a tab then enter your URL all you need to do is define it in the URL list ...

Btw, there's already a gesture for opening an IE Tab ...

At the end of the day you get to a point where additional functionality doesn't actually provide the individual with any added value and as such they stop updating just for the sake of updating ...

I think I am rapidly reaching that point ...

I have extensions, bookmark syncing and mouse gestures and in addition I have a portable version of Chrome that is exactly the same as my live install, both in look and functionality ...

What more could I want (I dare say, I'll find something) ?

    Enjoy ;-)

Can you print from IE mode? I cannot. I also note extensions do not seem to be running when in IE mode. chrome://extensions/ returns an error condition.

In SunChrome almost the same results. No printing from IE mode. On a page open in IE mode, typing chrome://extensions as an address switches back to Chrome mode.

Don't have a problem with printing or print preview in either ...

Agree with your findings on chrome://extensions, suppose I can understand it opening a Chrome tab ...

Extensions seem to be working OK, except for Sticky Notes in SunChrome which crashes the session ...

Odd. I wonder if this arises from copying over the Google Chrome User Data folder into both Plus and SunChrome. Maybe some nonsense came with it. I'll try making a fresh start later.

    I'm assuming your using 1.2.4.0 ...

Wouldn't have thought it was a problem with your data ...

I did exactly the same and copied my data from Chrome (except bookmarks), however didn't copy the whole of my default folder, just the files I wanted ...

    Yes, using 1.2.4.0.

Did an uninstall and reinstall of ChromePlus. Did not add any bookmarks or import or transfer anything, just brought up a couple of pages in IE mode. No print dialog. Prints ok in Chrome mode. Rebooted and tried again. No luck. This is on a Vista machine; the SunChrome install is on an XP SvcPack2 machine. I have a netbook with XP SvcPack3 but have not tried anything on that yet. I doubt it will make a difference.

Ah well, what would I do if everything worked ok.

This gets more and more weird. I tried to install and extension to the new barebones setup of ChromePlus. The crx triggered Google Chrome instead. But ChromePlus was marked as the default browser.

Turns out that ChromePlus, GoogleChrome and SunChrome (also on this machine) are ALL shown as default and I cannot change any of them; the option box is greyed out. So I went into Control Panel/Internet and set IE as the default. But still all the Chromes show that they are the default. I think maybe there are conflicts going on with the Chromes at the system level. Maybe I'll kill all of them and start fresh after flushing out the registry of Chromium entries.

This machine needs a frontal lobotomy.

    UPDATE:
No luck whatsoever with IE Printing. Tried just a copy/paste of the SunChrome folder to a machine which has never before had SunChrome or ChromePlus (but which does have Google Chrome) but still not IE Print Dialog. Did the same on a machine from which I purges all known traces of any Chrome program, with the same result. Ah well, so be it.

I spoke prematurely about extensions not working. It is Adsweep not working for me on IE pages. Adblock+, TPGooglereader, Flashblock and Smoothscroll seems to work on IE pages.

    UPDATE AGAIN
Finally some printing success. If I right-click on the IE page I can select Print and get to the Print Dialog. But no luck accessing printing from the Chrome "Control the Current Page" pulldown menu. Works on SunChrome and ChomePlus.

And now that I look closer, the Find in Page function does work in IE mode.

And the Flashblock extension does NOT work on an IE page. It may have stopped working altogther but at this time I am too cross-eyed tired to pursue it.
