Is there any way in Chrome to View Saved Form Data, similar to the View Passwords in Options?
I am not sure whether this would be available in the History and whether it would be readable
I think the Saved Form Data may be in files that are in the Cache folder, named Data_xxx. Files of that name are not deleted when the Cache is cleared.
I have looked at them using Wordpad to open them but the results are useless to me. Someone who has a heck of a llot more talent may be able to read and decipher them.
I ask because what I expect to be saved is sometimes not available or does not populate the entry fields by default; it seems to be there when the user starts to type in the entry fields, such as user name, but initially that field is blank. And sometimes the field is populated. I do not see any particular pattern.
when I visit some forums (even though the username and login are saved), the entry is blank.
typing the first letter of the username will populate the field
I don't think the form saving feature should EVER automatically fill in the values for you. It's designed to function just like in FF and IE, where you have to type and it gives you a list of values based on what you type. It's likely that either cookies or the password manager (or both combined) are automatically filling things in for you on certain sites.
YOu probably are correct. I seem to see some erratic behavior. Take this site, for example. I'll login, enter my password and check the Remember Me box. That sets a cookie. If I navigate away from this site without logging off - which I probably do most of the time, and come back, I am still logged in. But not always. Sometimes I have to enter the user name again, and when I start to type my login name is shown in the drop down box. I assume, therefore, that the name is saved in the Form Data files because it will still appear even if I delete all of the www.chromeplugins.org cookies.
Why does not Chrome ask to remember the password for this site. If it did I would have the Login and Password fields automatically populated.
In any event, this is why I was wondering if there was a way to see saved form data. On an "importance" scale of 1 to 10 , this rates only a 1 .
