Well I haven't really looked into it, so I don't know what the actual check is, but from what I've read it just means that if you try to install a crx of it that was made with a different private key than the one you've already installed, you will not be able to.

Charles, (Calande) has now uploaded a version that is re-packaged to work with the latest DEV version.

Has anyone tried to repackage any of the extensions they had installed (while waiting for the original authors to update) before this update ...

I'm very sad that this isn't going to be updated. It's pretty unfair IMHO to ask a guy to update something specifically for one person. If he were to do quarterly or even semi annually or so, I know I would be more than pleased, and it would take some stress off of him. Thanks Charles! You've laid down some great ground work for the rest of us!

I'm in agreement here, mind you I think a monthly update would be more appropriate ...

I'm not really into the technical issues but if I remember right doesn't it use some sort of signature checking to block ads ...

The updates are only for specific sites that the extension doesn't block ...

I'm more than happy with it's current performance and have yet to visit a site where an ad is displayed ...

So for the time being (until something replaces it) I'll keep it installed ..

imo chrome is by google which gets most of its revenue from advertising i rarely find obtrusive ads these days and prefer to compliment my browsing experience with some promotions.

I agree it's not fair to expect one person to fix all the problems. I'm still using Adsweep even though I get some false positives on websites I visit. Has anybody created their own derivative? I'd love to help out!
