there is a backup of the bookmarks in the Chrome folder
Location of Bookmark backup
for WinXP
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default
The file is Bookmarks.bak
Close Chrome
Locate the file Bookmark (without file extension) and renamed it to Bookmark.old
Remove the file extension of Bookmarks.bak
Fireup Chrome

I'm running Win7 and the latest stable version of Chrome and I can't find the file you refer to.
Im guessing your directory would be (I dont use win7)...
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default
....[USERNAME] should be your name (youll see it)
The AppData is a hidden folder. Enable the explorer to show hidden files and folders.
Uh yeah you are correct up to "default". Then there are several folders and dozens of files but no USERNAME and no trace of the bookmarks folder I deleted. I deleted a folder in the bookmarks manager window because it was showing in two places. I did not realize deleting the extra one would delete both. Well I'll get over it; it's no biggie. Probably have most of these sites in IE8 Favorites anyhow.
The book mark is the best view to review of a web site.
thanks for the advise i´ve also erased my bookmarks!
cheers!!
