A few days ago, I navigated to a site that Chrome suspected might contain malware. I overrode the warning and continued to access the site. I assure you I obtained no malware and no viruses whatsoever. McAfee VirusScan then began detecting (and deleting) a Generic.dx file every three hours. I looked up the file and it turns out to be a common false positive with McAfee; I scanned the file through online multi-scanners to confirm, and it was perfectly clean.
Immediately after McAfee first detected this so-called "virus," Chrome began exhibiting the odd behaviour of displaying the "Aw, snap !" warning on every single page I try to visit. It will appear either immediately or a few seconds after loading the page, and it occurs not only with "real" websites but also with the Chrome-exclusive "Most visited" homepage and Javascript console.
I suspected the problem was being caused by McAfee, so I uninstalled it and had no luck. I have tried everything that is recommended for the "Aw, snap !" problem on Chrome's troubleshooting page, and everything that is suggested in the general troubleshooting process on this forum. Nothing has worked. I sent a complaint form to Chrome's support team the day the problem started, but have received no word from them in return.
No matter how many times I un&reinstall, and no matter which version I download, the problem still persists. Every other browser functions perfectly.
