windows 7 64 bit home premium.

installed 4.0.223.16

added --enable-extensions to the shortcut kicks back an extensions not enabled error when trying to install an extension.

added -enable-extensions to the shortcut kicks back an extensions not enabled error when trying to install an extension. (note the first one had 2 dashes, just listing all the things i tried....

changed registry key to "C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --enable-extensions -- "%1"

still get the same error.

who do i have to screw to get this thing to work?

are you running the beta version of Chrome?
extensions are not supported

so, beta doesn't support extension although its version is newer than dev?.

I expect dev Chrome to be updated very soon since Chromium is now 4.0.232.0

The Beta Channel is being updated to 4.0.223.16 which is your first Beta release for 4.0. This release adds some bug fixes and for the first time Bookmark Sync is enabled. Extensions are disabled until the last API changes arrive. This channels has lots of adventage. So please use the dev channel for the best extension API. It is the latest channels.
