I have been using Chrome for a little while now and love it, however, I am not sure what changed in the last couple of weeks, but for 2 weeks now I can't even open it.

It tries to open, then crashes "Whoa! Google Chrome has crashed. Restart Now?"

Then Windows (I use Vista 32) says it has stopped working and runs its usual debug or close program message. When I click on the windows message, it brings up the "What is Data Execution Prevention?" Help and Support.


I have uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome, but still have the same issue when I try opening it.

While it is opening (crashing) I do see where the main tab page still have thumb nails of my previously visited site, is there something besides uninstalling I need to do to totally clear it off my system and try starting from scratch?

What's the version of your Chrome?

I would guess you'r running an old version of Chrome, or you'r running Vista - and havnt updated this with latest SP's...

Post the version of Chrome you are using and also the version of Vista ...

What I can tell you is that Chrome will work with all versions of Vista (with or without SPs installed) ...

I personally have had it running under SP1 and SP2 and I have a friend that is currently running it on Vista Home Basic !!

OS is Vista Ultimate SP2 (32 bit)

For Chrome, it is the latest version, I can't open it to read it, but I did uninstall and redownload, and my understanding is you can only download the latest version, so that is what it is.

Unfortunately not quite true ...

There are actually 3 versions to Chrome (Stable, Beta and Dev) so it really depends which channel you are subscribing to ...

Can't help you with the OS, but wouldn't have thought there was an issue with 32bit Vista, certainly haven't heard of any ...
