Default Chrome crashing - Probs with reinstall

Running latest Chrome version on XP Pro
I used Chrome for many weeks with no problems whatsoever until about a week ago when it froze up and would not maximize or respond to mouse clicks. If I shut it down and restarted the app I could see the process start up but the Chrome window never materialized. I did some investigation and found some people recommending adding -no -sandbox to the shortcut but that didn't help at all and in fact led to this error:

Google Chrome could not find xn--no-sandbox-nu6e

I have uninstalled and reinstalled a number of times with restarts of my PC in between and nothing is helping.

I have seen some people recommend checking firewall settings. All I have is Microsoft Security Essentials set up and I haven't made any changes to it so I'm not sure how it would suddenly have started interfering with Chrome's operation. Is there any evidence that Microsoft Security Essentials does cuase probs with CHrome?

Seriously? Nobody has any suggestions at all? Can someone tell me if Chrome has a known issue like this? Any solutions other than the sandbox one that in my case only made things worse? Should I be looking for a more active forum???

Well the problem is that since I can't even get Chrome to start up properly after a fresh install it's hard for me to say anything more than that it's the newest version. I also note that on the download page there is no information on which version I am downloading. Seems to be a bit of an oversight on the part of Google?

In any case, all I can say is that if you go to the Chrome download site and click "Download Google Chrome" that's the version I am working with.

So most likely it's a stable version.
    Interesting to Google for "xn--no-sandbox-nu6e"
Gives a hit in Spanish but here's the translation link:
    http://translate.google.co.in/transl...a2f1%26hl%3Des

Although my homepage is www.google.com, whenever I open Chrome (for a couple of days) http://xn--no-sandbox-nu6e/ leaves no other information. Any idea what that is and how to fix? thanks your help
    Update:
I configured Google to open the back pages open, but is now trying to create another tab open location http://xn--no-sandbox-nu6e/ 17/11/1909
    Latest stable on WinXP

And that's it? StevePaul? Nothing to add?

Does anyone here actually work for Google?

Does anyone have any info as to whether this is a common problem with Chrome? Nothing?

OK so I guess this isn't the place to go when looking for good advice on what went wrong with a stable release of Chrome.

    Thanks for the referral.

I'm not new to forums and in my experience people from the development team sometimes take it upon themselves to provide advice in forums such as this one. I don't think I was being all that impatient given that after three days the only response had been to ask which version of Chrome I was using. From what I can see there are many examples of people having a similar problem which leads me to believe that this is a known issue with Chrome. For that reason I suppose I thought I might at least hear from someone who was having a similar problem or had some additional insight into what might be causing this issue. Not to disparage this forum but it does seem that the one you have referred me to might have a more active community. Thanks!
