Hi,

I've tried to update Chrome to the Beta from the website link and also using the channel changer but have been unsuccessful.

When I use the channel changer I don't get the option to update from 'About Google Chrome' and even if i leave it for several hours it doesn't auto-update either.

Can you suggest a reason why it would refuse to update?

I'm currently running V1.0.154.65 on windows 7 (64-bit)

If you've used the channel changer you don't get an option to update..

It doesn't update you automatically ...

You need to go to the 'About Google Chrome' on the tools menu (wrench) and click on it

You will get a pop box that will say 'checking for updates'

It will inform you that an update is available ...

Click OK

When its finished installing it will tell you to close Chrome and re-open it for update to take effect ...

That's it ...

In future it will update automatically when updates become available (it does this in the background)

This was the problem when I went to 'About Google Chrome' on the tools menu there was never an option to update, nor a pop-up saying it was checking for updates.

I did however solve my problem my uninstalling chrome completely and installing the beta directly from ie8.

did you get updates afterwards? I have the same problem,and have the same version.
I want to update as usual by the channel changing.

I tried it on Win7 and Vista... same problem....

From what I've seen there seem to be a few issues with Windows 7 and 64 bit

Hi, I feel your pain i've been trying to get the Beta for ages (mostly because im on W7 64-bit) and only got a breakthrough last night.

Yes after uninstalling i went straight to the Chrome Beta page with ie 8
http://www.google.com/landing/chrome/beta/

the main difference between going to this page in ie8 and chrome is that ie8 automatically started the installation, and it downloaded V2.0.172.23, as opposed to chrome which would requirement to manually download the setup file; which would them download the stable version.

Other than uninstalling Google Chrome, I removed ALL Google related folders, files, products and registry entries (use search). Then I downloaded Chrome using Firefox. Then I got the Channel Changer and it worked.

It might also help to set the Channel Changer to Stable before uninstalling Chrome.
