    Default DivX Webplayer Issues

I would post this on the DivX forum, but it's not a problem with the webplayer at all. It works perfectly fine in Internet Explorer and Firefox.

The problem is Chrome isn't showing the DivX webplayer at all. There's nothing there, I have checked the Plugins page and it says the Webplayer is enabled, but it doesn't even show an outline or anything, it's just a blank space where the player should be. I've tried reinstalling both Chrome and DivX multiple times and nothing works.

I suppose I could just use Firefox to watch DivX videos online, but Chrome is 100% faster...

    Does anyone have any idea?

Nothing on any of those links was of any help at all. I've looked everywhere on the internet for a solution, but it would seem I'm the only person who is having this problem.

I did a few extra tests, it seems older versions of the DivX webplayer works fine(Anything Pre v7.) When using an older version I can see the player fine, everything is good. However, when I update it to version 7 the entire player disappears, Chrome doesn't even load it. I'm pretty much at a loss here, if anyone has an idea as to what's wrong that would be helpful.

    Thank you.

    Default Same problem

I'm having the same problem, and no one has been able to help me.

I have a feeling that Chrome doesn't support DivX and no one is willing to admit there's a major flaw with Chrome.

Also, somehow in downloading Chrome, it screwed up my Safari. I merged the information from Safari using the Chrome installer and Safari crashes and freezes all the time now. I've had Safari since it first came out and never had a problem until I downloaded Chrome. I'm starting to think it's more trouble than it's worth.

    Default Me Too

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I've been having the same issue and I have found no information on how to solve it. In all my searching, I have found very few people who, like me, cannot view divx videos.

Whenever I click play, I receive a warning telling me I do not have the divx web player installed (I checked aboutlugins and it is not shown- either chrome is not recognizing the plugin or it is not in the right location), which I do- I can view divx videos on safari and firefox.

If this issue is as infrequent as it appears, the problem is either trivial (with a simple solution I just overlooked) or due to a specific set of circumstances that rarely occurs. If anyone can help me in this matter, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Smile A Possible Solution

Guys, I had the same problem and searched to no avail for an hour before I hit upon a solution. I had divx web player crashing on chrome, although it was running fine on firefox, but , as is the case, was terribly slow. I disabled all extensions and then tried watching a video on stagevu.com and voila! it was working fine!

I later found that if I enabled the Adblock extension, divx was crashing all the time. For other extensions, sometimes it played, and sometimes not. I presume that it's a conflict issue with the chrome extensions. They have to go a long way before they can match firefox add-ons.

Hope it helps some of you!

    Default Possible fix.

This worked for me. I uninstalled firefox and then it worked in chrome again.

    To break it down.

I used to be able to watch divx in chrome. I think the problem started when I installed greasemetal for Chrome. I think it interfered with greasemonkey(a firefox program). I didn't do a lot of testing on the specifics yet, just wanted to give people a hint on what was going on.

I will keep testing and if I figure something else out I'll let you know and if you figure it out please post more specifics.

I also have these problems with chrome. I used to have an older version of DIVX and it worked just fine but now I have the latest version it says "missing plug-in". Does someone have the same problem? I do not use firefox so that can't be the problem.
