Smile Extension won't install and yet no error

    Hello there!

Every time I hit the "Add to Chrome" button on any extension page, the button goes grey showing "Installing" with a circular progress-bar,but after a few moments the button reverts back to blue "Add to Chrome". The extension doesn't install and yet no errors occur. I tried with most of the popular extensions and randomly selecting too but no result.

    Things to know:
    - I am signed into google with my account
    - I use a stable Chrome 14.0 version
    - I have several plugins disabled(like Quicktime,Chrome PDF viewer,Windows Media Player,etc)
    - I had the evernote extension installed

Any idea what might be wrong?
Ask me if you need to know anything else.

Thanks for all the effort and time,I am grateful for all the help I get.

I'm with you. I have tried this... http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=0d1a95c2bbfa2be1&hl=en

    No luck.

My docs/settings folder is on drive D, not C. That's why I tried that, thinking it was the problem. Are your docs/settings folder on drive C?

I used the stand-alone installer and hence my docs/settings goes directly where they are intended by the google, that is in the C drive. I don't get the error, actually I don't get any kind of error, just "Installing" and then back to "Add to Chrome",nothing happens.

Thanks for your suggestion and concern.

BTW, I am using WinXP SP3 and have enough disk space left in C drive, well enough to hold an average itunes library So the write permission or free space isn't the problem,I believe its something to do with the chrome webstore itself, because I could install addons before,I installed evernote few weeks back but recently this strange problem started.

Yeah, I'm getting the same thing - no error message. If it was a chronic problem, there would be a lot more hollering about it.

Yep,I understand that. But I believe people already have their extensions installed and its kind of hassel to update to a latest version when you have everything arranged in your most favorite form. Not many are updating to latest ones, most people are still about 4.0,10.0,7.0 versions while the 15.0 is already in beta and way to stablization. You understand what I mean right?

Figure anything out yet? Same problem here.
I was at my friend's earlier and he installed extensions easily, so there's nothing wrong with the chrome web store.
I've tried installing different versions of Chrome. Same fail.
Now I don't even have Adblock.

This is strange! It seems that all of a sudden the extensions started working again. This morning I was forwared to evernote clipper extension from e-newsletter,out of frustration and zero hope I clicked "Add to Chrome" & it immediately installed without any kind of fuss or complaints. I think its somehow related to either my ISP or webstore,I am using the my cellphone data service because my ISP is down for maintainance. I'll wait and see t'morrow when my internet is back if my ISP is the culprit or the webstore. Thanks for all the feedback, will keep updated.

Yes! I went the the Chrome Web Store, to the Adblock extension, and clicked on the 'Developer website'link on the right side of screen halfway down. From there I was able to install the extension!
