Thread: extensions not working in Chromium

Errors
Could not load extension from 'C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Chromium\User Data\Default\Extensions\00123456789abcdef0123456789abcdef0123457\1.6.12.2'. Value 'key' is missing or invalid.

chrome://extensions/
produces the above errors
does it mean that Chrome will have the same problem ?

I can't install extensions either, but my error is slightly different. I think it might have something to do with Chromium being on a different version number than the dev branch because it says "Could not install extension from 'C:\Users\Californian\Downloads\Applications\AdSweep.crx'. Bad version number". Any ideas anyone?

I have filed a bug report and got a reply;
Extensions are not supported in the current version of Chromium

and expect that they might be supported next week

Oh that's fine then; at least they know about it and it'll be fixed soon. I thought it was my fault.

Your posts about things not working in Chromium are causing confusion !!!

@StevePaul: Even though I don't really mind, maybe the admin should make a Chromium Troubleshooting section..

Actually do we need a separate section for the various flavour of Chrome?
Stable | Beta | Dev ? (at least for trouble shooting)

To be honest I think the fact that Chromium can change a couple of times a day we should steer away from getting involved ...

There are enough issues with the Dev channel to keep us occupied ...

Fair play to the people who want to use Chromium but I personally think that they should understand that support for their issues should not come from this site.

Recently we had a post about Portable Chrome which again turned out to be a Chromium issue ....

For us on the Dev channel, we have only just got through the recent problems with the Dev channel update and also issues to do with extensions ...

If we keep to what we know (Stable, Beta and Dev) we can be of greater benefit to the people that The Chrome wants to attract to this site with our collective experiences of Chrome.

I'd be interested to hear what others think :-)

I have to agree with StevePaul on this one. You can't expect us to fix issues that are brought daily from the Chromium Builds.

I wouldn't even bother with the Beta builds.
