Default Keep getting an error when trying to load an extention

I'm trying to make the Hello World extension into Chrome, but when I load it I get a message saying

"Could not load extension from C:/blah blah,
    missing manifest or invalid"

    ...or something similar.

But my manifest is there and it is the same as the one the guy at the OI had.

    What's wrong?

Using Chrome 4 (dev channel) with Sync enable.

That's not the problem, I get the error when I try to pack it. When I click "load unpacked extension..." and then pick the folder with my extension, I get the error.

Am I suppose to put the folder in an specific place?

Just did, same thing. The files are suppose to be written in text, right? Meaning, a normal text document is enough, right?

Shouldn't adding .json and .html at the end of the file do the same? That's what the tutorial says. It says to "make a file named manifest.json" and then "something.html".

Should I then "save as" and then add the name? What's the difference?

You know that if you want to pack a new extension, you have to choose PACK SELECTION not "LOAD UNPACKED EXTENSION"?

Just create a folder (and maybe a subfolder) somewhere on your hard disk

    Let's say c:\sample\extension

Go to chrome://extensions, select PACK EXTENSION, browse for c:\sample\extension and click OK

When you want to update an extension you have add your private key (automatically generated in c:\sample\)

Did that, all it did was create a MyExt chrome-icon shortcut. When I press it, nothing happens. Also, the tutorial in code.google.com says to click on "load unpacked extension"

    http://code.google.com/chrome/extens...etstarted.html

EDIT: Got it. I needed to change the default extension of the text editor (when you says text document or all files) to all files and THEN put the .json and .html.

    Thanks guys, sorry for bugging.
