Default No drop-down box for Favorites, right?

I have a Favorites "star" icon but it only serves to add a favorite. Unlike in Firefox, there's no little arrow beside it to open a drop-down box with all my Faves. The quickest access method I can find is by adding another toolbar purely for a Google Faves shortcut, which eats up a horizontal centimetre out of my screen and which takes me away from the page I'm browsing into a whole page of Google Faves set out most unfriendlily (!)

This is one reason why I don't use Chrome very much, so I thought I'd ask here if I'm missing something.

Welcome to Chrome Plugins.

Maybe youd like to activate the bookmark button.
If your using XP right click on the shortcut that starts Chrome and change its target to look something like this....
"C:\Documents and Settings\Admin\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --bookmark-menu
....basically just add the --bookmark-menu after the the path to chrome.

Heres two links....

A quick acknowledgement of and thanks for your response, P I'm not the brightest, software-wise, so I might be a while letting you know how I got on

I think that other member's post may have been missed because it was in an inappropriate subforum.

Before my original post I had already synced my bookmarks (just for info for anyone trying to help me). Windows XP netbook (but I have W7 on another notebook).

For other numpties like me:

Add to the end of the path in Properties\Target... outside the inverted commas:

[space]--bookmark-menu

Then you get a Doc+star icon and a down-arrow on the right-hand side of the toolbars. But it doesn't work. If I add a new bookmark it shows up in the drop-down box, but none of my other bookmarks are there. There is still a link to open bookmarks in a new page, and a link to "Other bookmarks - [empty]"

I hope I don't exasperate anyone ( the weepy smiley is missing!).

I couldn't edit last post, so: EDIT - Hang on! I needed to import from Google Toolbar. It only imports Faves cos it knows you're using Chrome. However, the bookmarks then appear in Other Bookmarks, which requires at least 3 clicks to access (I didn't count). clemenzina

Thank you, sarjoor. With that extension, this is what I get:

I would love to be able to move all those bookmarks "imported from Google toolbar" into the main bookmarks folder, where the eBay Forums BM is (that's one I bookmarked in Chrome, it wasn't imported). I will try to fathom it out myself, in the meantime - all guidance welcome

Have you tried the bookmark manager from the Wrench menu (the wrench at the top right)?
You can select multiple bookmarks at once and move them to where you want.

It's not easy finding an affectionate diminutive for you, P So "P" will have to do

I've gone great guns and, as I couldn't figure how to mass migrate the folders, I dragged them all individually into Bookmarks Bar, not as time-consuming as one might think.

But will they now be synced with Firefox's Google Toolbar Favorites? Oh well, don't bother to answer, I'll soon find out and I'll just have to import and resite them if necessary.

Thanks so much for your help and to Sarjoor!

I may start to use Chrome more now, it is faster than FF and IE at the moment and I imagine it will stay that way if I don't clutter it up.
