Default Task Bar not showing when Chrome open

Hey there, so I have my task bar set to auto hide (prefer it that way) over the past week or so, whenever I have Chrome open and try to move the mouse down to make the task bar appear, it wont at all. This is only when I currently have the chrome window up (Maximized only)

    Any solutions?

    I don't have a solution
can you try F11 in Chrome and see whether the taskbar returns?

There's a little icon that looks like a wrench at the top of the browser to the right of the address box. Click on that and click on "Always show bookmarks bar".

clicking or un-clicking "Always show bookmarks bar" does not solve the problem for me.

The Double-F11 solution does work, but it's a nuisance solution.

I have narrowed down exactly when this problem gets triggered for me. I've replicated it, and it is completely predictable. it's when the number of icons representing recent downloads (shown at the bottom) exceeds the resolution of the display. [the icons display from left to right] Once I exceed that space allotment, it then overrides the auto-hide taskbar.
I'm going to try going to the recent downloads screen and delete the listings BEFORE they exceed the space allotment, and see if that buys me time before the override happens.
But even if that works, that would be another nuisance solution that's even worse than Double-F11.

I'm running Vista 64-bit Ultimate, Service Pack 2.
