Whenever I start my laptop, there are ten instances of chrome.exe active in the Task Manager. I went into MSCONFIG and found two listings related to Google: one is the Google Updater; the other is for chrome.exe and points to C:\Users\(me)\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Applications\chrome.exe --no-startup-window. I unchecked both and restarted, but chrome.exe still shows up in the Task Manager. I am using Windows 7. Can someone please tell me how to prevent Chrome from running in the background at startup? Thank you! BTW, I have also noticed that when launch Chrome and then close the window by clicking "X", the chrome.exe services remain in the background. However, if I exit Chrome from the program menu, all the instances of chrome.exe disappear.
