I have read other threads and find nothing helpful in addressing the problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice. IE works perfectly. The network/internet connection is fine, but it is acting like it (the browser) is not connecting to the network. Any clues or ideas???

What is the version of Chrome that you are running?
Try clearing your cache;

Go to the Wrench and select Options. Go to the Personal Stuff tab. Click on Clear browsing data.
Obliterate the following items
Select Clear browsing history
Select Clear download history
Select Empty the cache
Optional [b] Delete cookies
Optional [b] Clear saved passwords
Optional [b] Clear saved form data
Select Everything in Clear data from this period.
Click Clear Browsing Data

If error persists,
Make a backup copy of C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default for Windows XP
Make a backup copy of C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default for Windows Vista
DELETE THE CONTENTS OF C:\Documents and Settings\lusername\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data for Windows XP
Restart Chrome

Using Chrome version 3.0.195.27. I tried all that you listed and still same results, although after clearing out the folder it did initally come up with the default screen that has thumbnails of previously visited sites and the two that were shown were both Chrome related sites so I assumed that was equivalent to the 'welcome to Outlook' email message you get automatically get after installing MS outlook. A sort of welcoming to the s/w. Anyway, it's still broken.

are you using a proxy?

Try turning off your firewall.

I have tried all of the suggestions I have found and nothing seems to work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and always come back to the same problem. IE works fine but it sucks and I don't want to use it. Since this started "all of a sudden", flipping between tabs, I have not turned off my firewall to check that out. I have run registry and malware checkers and they come back clean. Any other suggestions? I really do like Chrome and would love to continue using it.

i also have the same problem plz any one tell me how to fix this problem i am using 8.0.552.237 version
