Basically, when I have Google Chrome open any attempt to right-click the task bar or the start menu, causes a serious system lag spike for about 30+ seconds, sometimes I have to relog/restart to fix it. Can't even click icons on the desktop.

I've now figured out that closing chrome via the "x" in the top right corner, causes everything to go back to normal as if they've been suspended in a queue.

Hmm, I don't exactly know. I can install Windows 7 tomorrow. But this is what I think you do. Right click, Chrome, then properties, then under compatibility mode for: and select Windows XP or Vista. Cause it works fine for XP and Vista.

Tried that, same issue, also same issue happens in safemode as well.

Working after a re-install of Windows. Odd.

I found the culprit, there's a program called IDM - Internet Download Manager, this program with Chrome installed was causing the lockups.

I have no proplem with windows 7 while using either chrome or IDM. All work fine

it happens with IE, not just Chrome..

It's a feature with IDM called Advanced Browser Integration, IE can function fine without it but Chrome, Opera, Firefox will not.
