My Windows installation randomly decided to corrupt or something and after many attempts to fix it, I tried a format and reinstall. I thought I had backed everything up, but apparently Chrome didn't copy, so I've lost all the current sources and PEMs for my projects. :|
I also lost pretty much all of my work on the CTC .rc generator so don't expect that back anytime soon.
And finally, I'm permanently stuck on Linux.
I'll try to see if I can get Windows Chrome to run on it, at least under a VM, so I can still dev. But I'll be damned if this isn't one hell of a setback and deterrent.

would users of your extensions help by sending their files to you?

No I have the release sources on my site still. I just lost everything I had in development and hadn't released yet.
Also if I release further updates of old extensions, it will require users to uninstall the old version before installing the new version, as Chrome will complain about a key inconsistency.

I already tried, Chrome will not complain, but install two times the same extension.

I develop extensions from multiple computers ( 3 ) and I always end packaging them with a different pem :/

Got a VM with Windows XP set up and downloaded Chrome. When my current projects die down a bit I'll try to update my broken extensions. Though, probably after a thorough investigation of the new communication schema, and an update of my post detailing the old one in the dev section.
