    i guess i would agree once it has a post against it, other than by the author, but i doubt this forum software has an option for this... it would require custom coding, optionally you could allow thread deletion to members with more than 10 post or something...

    the chrome forums you cant even edit your post... it was just an example (as you asked for one)

    @BT;

    are you saying that you cannot edit your posts in this forum?
    I don't know about this version but I am running a higher version than this forum; I don't allow deletion, moving and close/open thread; I allow posts deletion and editing though. No custom coding is required.

    If you can provide me with 3 good reasons why you need to edit your posts, I will submit a request to the Admin

    @sulasno

    Just a thought ...

    How difficult would it be to recognise the fact that there is only one post on a thread and allow the author to delete that post and hence the thread ...

    @SP

    deleting a thread and deleting a post is 2 different matters;
    you cannot delete a thread; but if you are allowed to edit, you can remove the contents of the first post if you are the original poster (even if there are no responses to the thread, the thread remains)

    obviously the Admin of this forum has his own reasons for not allowing editing of posts;
    however if BT's reasons are acceptable, then I don't see why the Admin won't agree;

    I could offer the reasons, but I won't :-)

    I was talking about http://www.google.com/support/forum/

    well for editing, reason 1
    sometimes you forget to post something in your origional post, and the origional post is the one everyone reads so puting it in a second post isnt always so hot an idea. (although you can always delete your thread and redo everything, you still loose any replys)

    2. you may want to give an update: to your post, rewriting it to be more understandable what your trying to ask. or giving aditional details

    3. maybe you have solved your problem, and wish to share the results, although you could post your answer, and select yourself as the 'best answer' its still better to attach your update to the origional post, so you can ensure fluid movement between question and answer

    Cons
    1 you can edit the post to say something completely different (thats y there could be a little button to toggle through the post history)

    That's why after posting 50 posts or 100 posts, members are allowed to edit their posts here :-)
