actually I wish that there is a way to view the theme in the default.dll

As chromium now has a button linking to a theme gallary many are perhaps waiting to see if the theme part soon is going live - and won't change to much if they have to do it again at realase

the button is also available in dev Chrome

You can export all the images and view them with CTC.

can you tell a newbie what application to be used for extracting a theme to be viewed in CTC ?

Well you can use ResHack or something similar to extract them, but then you'll have to rename them all and stuff..
I'd suggest the link in my signature (CTC .rc Generator or something).. but I'd like a theme developer to look it over and make sure everything's in the right directory first.
