Default Allow users to upload image into extension directory?

    Hi there,

Is it possible to allow your users to upload an image into your extensions directory,

I have an extension that is a bookmarking style one called Apptitude.

I want to give the users the ablility to add their own applets however I need to grab an image off them.

is it possible to get the user to upload a .png to {extensionkey}/images/icons/
    ?

    regards,
    Matt

    Hi,

You can't "upload" images to extension directory for security reasons I guess. Nevertheless, you can store them into localStorage or Web SQL database. I'm pretty sure that you can't save binary data into localStorage, so you'll have to encode it into base64. I don't know if you can store binary data into Web SQL database. In order to get image data from a file: or http: URL, you can use an XMLHttpRequest and configure it to receive binary data.

That's what i was afraid of,
I will need to look into the websql databases eventually anyway as to extend my extension requires them.

I have been looking at the tutorials however they confuse me a bit, as to what happens if you clear your private data, do they get erased? as that is not acceptable.
