What I wish for Xmas is an Extension version checker that can against my 18 extensions against the following sites;

You can say that Chrome already does something like that.... and more.
On the Chrome Extensions page ( chrome://extensions/ ), click "Developer Mode" and one of the new buttons that appear will be "Update Extensions Now".
I believe clicking that button will not only check all your extension versions, but also auto-update them to their latest versions.
sulasno, I suppose that is different from your request in that Chrome's update function will do more that just "check" the extension versions. Also, it doesn't check the websites that you list; it checks the update URL that is put into the extension's manifest.json but by the extension author.
the current versions of extensions can be found at http://www.chromeextensions.org/ and it will take a while for https://chrome.google.com/extensions to catch up :-)
I wonder whether is it possible to scan the Extension folder of Chrome (with options for the user to select the location), detect the extensions installed and then check the version against the sites mentioned
I noticed that Google uses the characters of the extension as a reference
