Default How can i export and share an extension i have installed?

On the very first day that the chrome extension gallery went live, i nabbed a pretty cool extension. A number of my friends want it, but it's no longer in the gallery.

I want to share it with them. i've done some fiddling around in developer mode, trying to package it, unpackage it, but it never works. 100% chance it's not working because i don't have a clue what i'm doing.

I'm using a windows 7 system, and it's the latest version of chrome (at least i assume so)

Is there any way i can share this extension?

EDIT: Although i'd still love an answer to this question, it's no longer pressing. After months of searching, i've finally found another extension that does the same thing!

You can repack an extension just by figuring out the ID and packing that folder's subfolder. It won't have the correct keypair, but it will still install.
You can find the ID by going to chrome://extensions/ and looking to the right of "id:" under the extension's name.
The folder is located at Chrome\Default\Extensions\[extension ID here]\[latest version]
Chrome would be wherever your Chrome folder is, which depends on OS and version and stuff. Being generic, it's somewhere in your user folder. I don't remember them all offhand right now. But linux's is ~/.config/google-chrome/ if for some reason you happen to use it.
