    Going back to topic...

I need help with Ad-blocking guys:

    Adsweep US:
    Pros:
    - A very nice US for the reason that all the things you want to block are already loaded there.
    Cons:
    - Lack of control. There are certain sites (i.e. http://www.dotastrategy.com), where it's blocking too much.
    - I also notice that when a site loads (i.e. http://www.chromeplugins.org), the ads get downloaded first before they get aesthetically removed from your view.

    Adblock+ Extension:
    Pros:
    - Very good amount of control.
    -- Alt+B to block
    -- Alt+U to unblock
    -- Alt+E to edit styles
    Cons:
    - There is no initial list of ads to be block. You need to block the ads for the websites that you visit one by one manually.
    - Once you clear everything in Chrome's cache/cookies, Adblock+ resets and you need to reblock everything.

If you're wondering what I need help with is. I need help in confirming all the bullets that I listed above. And for the cons (especially the 1st con of AS), is there any workarounds for them?

P.S. I'm an AS user at the moment. I don't enable extensions regularly.

Update: due to Adsweeps 2nd con, I am now using the adblock plus extension in chrome. The only other extension I have is the smooth scroll 0.3 (and lovin' it).

Adblock + seems to do a better job in not downloading the ads at all. If only we can upload a list to it. (Similar to what people can do with Iron.)

Salisbury, I'm pretty sure that we, when they have finished the implementation, can take advantage of http://src.chromium.org/viewvc/chrom...acy_blacklist/ to make blacklists and whitelists of ads..

But at the moment a bit hard to make a 'perfect' adremoval extention without real possibilities to store users own choices.. But give it a few month and I bet we got some nice new tools, that extension developents will take advantage of

I've been using Iron for a while. It has adblock allready included in it. I only had to update ablock.ini with fanboy's list. Can someone make a workable extension with fanboy's filter list ?

Well, actually there is extension that uses Fanboy's filter list, as stated here. I installed it and it works great.

Thanks Alinescoo! I didn't see that "element hider" post yet.

But that is actually just an "Ad-hider". I did try it and I have to say it is actually very good. But I'll stick with my manual Ad-block for now until a real "Ad-blocker" comes around.
