I was hoping to make an extension which changes the default (and rather ugly) interface of google docs into something that resembles (a.k.a an absolute rip-off of) the microsoft office 2007 interface.

Everything I have so far is attached (please extract everything before opening the html document). The interface data (tabs and components) are stored in an xml file named 'word.xml'.

As you can see, I am no graphic designer, which is why I was looking for collaboration on this project. I just need some help creating the banner, injecting it into the page will be easy.

Why, then what you want, is what office 2010 web or even better, zoho.com offers already..

I would far rather use google docs that zoho.com . It would just be nice to give it a decent interface. This would also be a good extension to show users, down at the stable end, the power of extensions.

Wow, looks good but also looks like some work. Is it worth the pain when there are already better alternatives (better than Google Docs) out there? ThinkFree, Zoho...

And will it be worth the work when Microsoft will release the first Windows Live Office beta (or whatever the name will be) in some months? I don't think so...

PS: I can assure you that the Zoho team will LOVE your idea and support you in any way if you do that for Zoho. (Google would probably sue you LOL)

why would google sue me? I could understand microsoft sueing me for this but why google. Also, along with this I would be releasing the script which converts the xml file to html for anyone to use on their own site.

... it was just some comparison... Zoho vs Google. Zoho would be more thankful than Google, that's what I meant.
