Thumbs down Sample extensions and themes won't install

Today I had a problem with e-mail. Outlook somehow took over as the default e-mail client from gmail. When I used the methods I found online, I couldn't get mailto links to open in a new window instead of a new tab. To fix it, I decided to just reinstall Chrome. It didn't work, but a new problem cropped up. Now I can't get extensions and themes to install. I have tried uninstalling Chrome again, and re-installing directly from http://www.google.com/chrome/eula.html?extra=devchannel. That didn't work. What is going on?

Since he said he just installed the dev channel, I guess it'd be 4.0.213.1. I'm having an identical problem with extensions and themes. I've tried running earlier versions and it always says that my extensions are disabled when they're not, and on the dev channel version, it just downloads the crx file without doing anything with it. Themes do work on earlier channels, but extensions don't. On the dev channel, it just treats crx files like any other file and I cannot change themes or install extensions.

I think it is a little scary that they don't have more quality control.. I know dev-release aint 'sold' as stable.. But bugs like these I think they should be able to check for.. If such obvious bugs can be get out I don't wanna think about security exploits that are much harder to spot .oO

Found it. The solution is to uncheck "Ask where to save each file" on the "Under the hood" tab. To follow the bug, see http://code.google.com/p/chromium/is...etail?id=22139.
