    Default Save webpage

    Hi all,

Does anyone know how I can get google chrome plugin to save the current webpage as it loads. Like using the option "Save page as.." but the plugin saves it automatically on load.

In addition can the file be saved as html? rather than the default of "Web Page, Complete".

    Cheers,

    B

You can't save it to a file with JavaScript at least.
You could save it to localStorage or something but that's not going to do the user any good.
Really the only way would b to use an NPAPI plugin, and just communicate with it when your Background Page receives a page load event or whatever.

oh ok - so I have to build a NPAPI plugin to do the saving part of it? and then plugin it into my chrome extension?

Any idea how hard or easy it is to develop this NPAPI?

    Cheers,

    B

It takes knowing C, the specifics for NPAPI, and writing a different one for every OS.

    If you can:
    A) Compile it to a library file (.dll on Windows, .so on Linux, whatever it is on Mac)
    B) Use window handles to modify Chrome's stuff.
    C) Have an implementation of the NPAPI for that platform
So assuming you can do the first two in Java (which I'm pretty sure you can't), and you write your own NPAPI implementation, then theoretically yes.
    But it's not likely.
