    Default AdSweep won't work/stay installed

Hi all, I'm new to the Dev branch of Chrome, but I'm excited to get extensions working so that I can migrate from Firefox.

I've tried to install AdSweep in Chrome by "unpacking" AdSweep.crx using WinZIP. I then went to the extensions page in Chrome and chose "Load unpacked directory." It loaded AdSweep and it appeared in the extensions list. I tried to go to adsweep.org to check if it worked -- it didn't so I restarted Chrome. It still didn't work, so I went back to the extensions page and AdSweep was gone.

I also tried the install method from the command line "Chrome.exe --install-extension="path\AdSweep.crx" -- after doing this Chrome launched and opened the Extensions page automatically, nothing was there.

I'm on the latest build of Chrome.

I also tried the same things on Linux (most recent dev build) with the exact same results.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks!

edit -- I forgot to mention that I tried installing the extension inside a Chrome instance launched with --enable-extensions as well, no go.

why don't you just install it automaticly by letting it install when clicking on it, or if that don't work, by dragging the crx file into chrome..?

Ok, I dragged it into Chrome to install it - it installs and stays installed (I never thought to try that method).

I launch chrome with --enable-extensions --enable-plugins --enable-user-scripts and I get the red message on adsweep.org saying that it is installed, but the ad banner still appears (and on other sites as well).

    What am I doing wrong?
