Hi all, I'm new to the Dev branch of Chrome, but I'm excited to get extensions working so that I can migrate from Firefox.
I've tried to install AdSweep in Chrome by "unpacking" AdSweep.crx using WinZIP. I then went to the extensions page in Chrome and chose "Load unpacked directory." It loaded AdSweep and it appeared in the extensions list. I tried to go to adsweep.org to check if it worked -- it didn't so I restarted Chrome. It still didn't work, so I went back to the extensions page and AdSweep was gone.
I also tried the install method from the command line "Chrome.exe --install-extension="path\AdSweep.crx" -- after doing this Chrome launched and opened the Extensions page automatically, nothing was there.
I'm on the latest build of Chrome.
I also tried the same things on Linux (most recent dev build) with the exact same results.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks!
edit -- I forgot to mention that I tried installing the extension inside a Chrome instance launched with --enable-extensions as well, no go.
