    Default Click & Clean

I have the google chrome browser set up on both my Windows Vista Home Premium Laptop and the desktop which runs windows xp w/ sp3. I have had the click & clean on the Vista machine for awhile now and have had not problems with it. Initially I had it set up to ask before cleaning everything out when I closed the browser but after awhile I changed it to just do its cleaning whenever I closed the browser. There is always the little click & clean icon that appears in the lower right hand corner showing me that it is running.

However, when i installed it on the XP machine (this morning) and set it up to clean up what I want it to clean for me the little icon doesn't appear in the lower right hand corner so I decided to change the setting to ask before clearing when I close the browser. But it is not asking either. I'm not sure what it is that I am missing here but for whatever reason it is not working on the machine running Windows XP with SP3.

Any suggestions would be so very much appreciated.

    Thanks

I am having this same problem. I am running XP and before last night when the last update everything was working fine. Now however no amount of finagling by me in the options sections gets it to work (clearing history data etc..).

Question Click&Clean not saving settings/keeps alerting of new version

I've used C&C for Chrome on my XP computer for a while and it works great. However, the most recent release (v7.0 I believe) appears to work well for a few minutes. But then the C&C icon on my Chrome browser will flash indicating a new version/update is available. However, its the same version I have installed. So I go through and customize the settings, but inevitably it has the same issue - indicates a new version/update is available...

I contacted C&C and I attempted their suggestion twice w/no luck. Here is their suggestion:

Reset all Click&Clean preferences. To do this, close your Chrome browser,
open windows file explorer and go to to the following directory:

    On XP: <drive>:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Plugin Data

    On Vista or Win7: <drive>:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Plugin Data

    then delete folder named ClickClean.

Its a great program and has worked well for me, please let me know if anyone has a solution. Thanks.

I've been having the same problem and I've now uninstalled it at least temporarily. I hope they get it fixed!

John - The following worked for me. Let me know if it helps.

In addition to deleting the ClickClean folder from - C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Plugin Data

Click & Clean creates a folder in - C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions that you need to delete (but the folder is not titled ClickClean).

Here is a screenshot that should help you out - the highlighted folder is the one that I needed to delete, but yours might have a different title. Just look for the folder that contains a subfolder titled 7.0.0.... (or whatever your Click & Clean version is).

    Hope this helps.
