    Default Installing extensions - bug?

Maybe it's just me but I still can't figure out how to install extensions.

I clicked on the install link in the page:
    http://dev.chromium.org/developers/d...nsions/samples

Suddenly google chrome goes into a frenzy of adding infinite tabs and on each one at the bottom there is the downloaded file. The same thing happens if I click on "Save link as...", or If I download it through another browser save it on my machine, and then double click it.

It actually downloads the file a million times too and in my download folder I have:
    gmail(3).crx
    gmail(3)(1).crx
    gmail(3)(1).crx
    gmail(3)(1)(1).crx
    gmail(3)(1)(1)(1).crx
    gmail(3)(1)(1)(1)(1).crx
    gmail(3)(1)(1)(1)(1)(1).crx
.... and it goes on and on (I think it stops whenever it reaches the filename size limit).

I am using the 2.0.172.23 version
    Any clues?

You can't install extensions by opening them yet.

You have to add this in the target box, in Chrome's shortcut properties:

    Code:
    --enable-extensions --install-extension="C:\*Extension Directory*"
Replace *Extension Directory* with the directory where your extension is.

Don't forget to add a space between the target path and --enable-extenions.

It should look a little like this after adding it:

    Code:
    C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe --enable-extensions --install-extension="C:\folder\extension.crx"

2.0.172.23 is the current beta channel version, right?

The extension support is changing and evolving pretty quickly. There may be some features in extensions which don't yet exist in the beta channel. I think if you're wanting to use them you should probably be on the Dev channel. That may well fix the problem.

    Default It worked

Yes, you were right - it was a version issue. Solved when I switched to Dev channel.
    Thanks
