Default Remember to re-install AniWeather due to recent Chrome update

Google gave all of us a surprise by changing its way of packing add-on.

    http://blog.chromium.org/2009/06/imp...extension.html

What does that mean to you? Simple: if you already installed AniWeather for any previous version of Chrome, you will need to reinstall it at http://www.aniweather.com (version 0.5.5) otherwise it won’t work in the latest Chrome (version 3.0.189.0).

Considering forward compatibility, AniWeather will not provide download for old Chrome ( <3.0.189.0) any longer. I hope this is not a problem assuming everyone using dev channel is a geek tolerating this kind of upgrade.

Will there be any further surprise like this?

jackstanley: You should join the new chromium-extensions mailing list (http://groups.google.com/group/chromium-extensions), if you haven't already. We'll broadcast any future changes like this on that list ahead of time.

3.0.189.0 contains a significant bug that will trigger the problem. To workaround, here are the steps:

    1. Ensure you are using the latest version of chrome (3.0.189.0)
    2. Delete the Bookmark folder "aniweather setting"
    3. Download the latest add-on (0.5.6) from aniweather.com
    4. You will be directed to the setting page and re-configure your preferences.
    5. Though restarting is not necessary, I suggest you do it.

Let me know if you still have the problem. Check more details at:

    Default unable to download aniweather

    Hi

I keep having problem of downloading the aniweather adds-on. When I go to the website and click on the download button, there is a message that I appeared at the bottom of my google chrome browser asking if I am sure that I want to download the adds-on as this type of file can harm my computer, but when I click on 'save' option, it says 'invalid value for permission'. I have the same problem when trying to download the other adds-on for google as well. Can anyone please help me. Thank you
