Default Question about dll editing for theming

Is there still a way to replace in dll files how the graphics in chrome looks?

I'm talking about newest dev version, because it seems that replacing in chrome.dll isn't working anymore... i tried to replace back and forward buttons but they aren't working anymore :/

emiya, .dll file type was replace awhile ago with the .crx format . hue/color is the only editable part of the button now .
For the record: Hello Kitty and Naruto Themes are the suck .

Ummm i know? but screw this, i'm editing them for myself i've done it long after dll was replaced in chrome 3 or 4, but it's funn to edit them because you can change the look how you like... but recently i noticed i change something there and nothing happens that why I'm asking, somebody know? Because those crx really do sux in my opinion ^^" but if i can't edit dll's anymore... well i try to make something i wanted to make in dll with crx but it will take extra effort to make and i would need to change some concepts.

PS: With crx sadly you can't do stuff like this http://twitpic.com/2o12hq/full and i would love to apply those styled tabs again (but now it would take more than only change the tabs I'm planning to implement something big for myself to use ^^ )

Thought Id have a quick look at things to see if I could help and heres some stuff to consider....
Out of interest did you only try the buttons?
Try changing the buttons and then installing the attached theme.....Reason being that when chrome installs a theme now it applies all the tints and what not to the images and then saves all the images into a pak file called...Cached Theme.pak....the attached theme doesnt actually change the images but the buttons end up in that file and it has to get the button images from somewhere so hopefully its still the dll (cant find anywhere else)...but that doesnt explain why the dll changes didnt take effect unless chrome creates a pak file on install but I cant find it.

I rip the images out with the attached tool. I have no way of putting images back into a pak file.

    _emptyTheme_.crx
    BitmapRip.zip

    Hmm Interesting...
The Cached Theme.pak is in Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions\gogoepoikfbkigcflciohlpmhjkdngjf\1.1_0 ? Because i don't seem to find that file anywhere beside this folder and in that folder are also other files like some images in "images" folder and a manifest.json file.

    I'm in correct location right?

PS: tested it with the theme... and other themes as well, you need to re-apply the theme so the changes from DLL would take effect O.o it wasn't like that before...

Youve installed a theme, otherwise you shouldnt have that directory.
I did some checking and on a fresh install there is nothing in the extensions directory.
Try doing your changes with no theme installed at all.
Also have you got around to trying anything besides the buttons or whats covered by a theme....such as the tabs as in your pic.
One day Im going to look at dll themeing again and so am interested.
Wish there was an easy way of packing and unpacking a pak file, could be a cool way of themeing. Found some stuff for python, might have a look later......much later, got other interests at the mo
